The World Academic Council of Emergency Medicine and INDUSEM Leaders Jointly participated in the Monthly CME Symposium of The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI)

Organized by APPI Chair Dr. Amit Chakrabarty the Symposium brought together WACEM Leaders Dr. Manish Garg and Dr. Veronica Sikka.

They addressed important aspects of Telemedicine practice in Academic Settings and the Veterans Administration.

The CME was moderated by Dr. Sagar Galwankar Executive Director of WACEM and Experts Prof. Prabath Nanayakkara from Amsterdam, Professor Salvatore from Rome and Dr. Tal-Or from Tel Aviv took part in the discussions following the symposium.

The Round Table Hybrid Meeting with Organized Medicine Academic Guild of India was held at Mangalore where there was a virtual component attached.

Presidents of Major Organizations including IADVL, IAP, INDUSEM, ACEE, EMA , AFPI, IAPSM attended this meeting.

Creating a Multi-Coalition Framework was stressed during this meeting.

Major Challenges to Health Care in India were discussed.

Topic: Active Shooter Scenario in the Emergency Department 

Presenter: Professor Bonnie Arquilla

An Active Shooter Scenario involves Killing or attempted killing of people by an individual who is carrying firearms and is randomly shooting . This situation can be at an hospital.

Various Aspects of the scenario were discussed by Dr. Arquilla.

Take Home points 
 • Be aware of your area and what can happen
 • Try to know how you van exit the building easily
 • Try to find and hide in a locked room
 • Try to incapacitate the shooter if you can as that is the best chance for survival if you can escape or exit.
